Description

Ok so I got bored and decided to revisit this piece. I'm sure most of you have seen the original which can still be seen here: fav.me/d2k4o10

I've added more detail, Redid the warrior, and made it a lot less lop-sided looking.

:iconreadplz:

I originally made this quite a while ago for a friend of mine.
Chances are you will not quite get it if you aren't familiar with the anime, Code Geass, or my fanfiction, Lelouch of the Revolution. [link]

The story behind this is that one day my friend/muse Velshard :iconvelshard: emailed me with the idea of making a personal royal seal for Lelouch followed by a detailed description. It was at that point that I informed him that I was an art student and sent him a rough. Long story short this is the end result.

There is a lot of symbolism involved here:

:bulletpink: The color black, because Lelouch is the Black Prince of course. Not to mention his affiliation with the Black Knights.

UPDATE: Celtic knots: Britannians ethnically identify themselves as Celtic. The Celts once being some of the most ruthless and feared warriors in ancient Europe.

:bulletpink: The the phoenixes at that top symbolize resurrection and rising from the ashes they also represent Lelouch's friendship with Suzaku who was named after the Japanese god of the south aka "the phoenix"

:bulletpink: Why blue you ask? Not only is that a common color for a super hot flame but it is the color of Nunnally's eyes :aww:

:bulletpink: The pentacle star (a common symbol for contemporary pagan religions one of the most well known of which being Wicca ) represents his contract with the "witch" CC. :wizardhat:

:bulletpink: The all seeing eye in the middle of the star represents several things. It is both a reminder of his father's power over him, and the star of protection. (Not to mention it was the symbol Lelouch himself had chose for his reign as Emperor in R2)

:bulletpink: The white olive branches symbolize peace of course, which was Lelouch's main goal (to create a peaceful world for Nunnally) but it is obscured by a figure wielding a sword. Indicating that war comes before peace. As his infamous last words state "I destroy worlds and create worlds."

:bulletpink: The angelic figure with black wings symbolizes "fallen royalty" the black halo glowing red is representational of the supernatural power of Geass that is distinctly unholy, and also symbolizing Lelouch's royal status not so subtlety. The fact that the halo is crooked to one side implies that it's going to fall.

UPDATE: I've added a blindfold to the figure as a play on Lady Justice. It works on two levels 1) The absence of scales can imply that there is no objectivity, equality or truth, only war, lies, discrimination and people who blindly follow Britannia. 2) Lelouch gaining justice for Nunnally and others by his own means.

:bulletpink: And finally the purple banner and Fluer De Lis...these are pretty self explanatory. Purple being the traditional color of royalty. And the Fluer De Lis being the Symbol of the Britannian Empire.
